Re: Reading Room

Presently reading Liberty and Tyranny by Levin

The library has reopened, so I have Our Man in Havana ordered, based on @Issabella's suggestion, as well as hearing the book mentioned on a podcast a couple of times the same week. Odd for a book published in 1958.

Question Everything - Trigger Warning - Puppy in a Dangerous Wagon

So, I mentioned in the first post of the "Reading Room" thread that I was working on a post comparing today's events with those predicted in 1984 and Brave New world. I have written and rewritten the post so many times that I'm sick of it. It became pages long, only to be pared back, then expanded ...

Reading Room

My beloved public library is closed indefinitely due to this shut down of the world, so I am revisiting "Nineteen Eighty-Four" by Orwell. Even though it was written in 1948, it has so many parallels to our current society, it almost seems like it was designed as a road map for the future.... Next, ...

Re: Falling snow animated Scheme Script for Gimp

Pat625 , Wallace , and RJKD , what did you do to get rid of the blips? I've worked with this script for two or three days now, running it hundreds of times with various adjustments and always get a blip, both in the GIMP animation playback screen and using outside players. Is it my version 2.10.12?...

Re: How Do I Create Mottled Paper?

Tom , in the spirit of my favorite social climber, Hyacinth Bucket, HyacinthSkill.jpg Thanks for the zipped mottled attempt. I found the background colors to be a bit mosaic-y on my desktop monitor, but the dark fibers were excellent, and just what I've been trying to achieve. Could the mosaic be a...

Re: Set Render/Pattern/Sinus Permanently to FG and BG Colors

Thanks rich2005 , for the legacy sinus plug-in. Installed it and am playing with it. The GEGL sinus distorts to a much greater level, all the way to colored noise, so I'll have to play around with the old version and make note of the settings for x, y, and complexity which are most similar to the GE...

You guys are certainly prolific. Keep 'em coming!

@GJL, I like your last batch. The broader font was perfect for those textures.

Re: Falling snow animated Scheme Script for Gimp

Pat625 , that mountain climber snow scene is lovely and peaceful. I don't quite understand how this gif thing works, but would a similar photo in the 1920x1080 size (aspect ratio for modern monitors) work as a screen saver - would the snow still fall? Tom , I'm having problems with 2.10.12 lately. ...
