Scaling using interpolation none should not produce any antialiasing. Can you post your large image somewhere?

Scale the large image (1900 x 1600) with interpolation NONE (or if that is too severe LINEAR)
I tried both of them, but I'm still getting a lot of gray edges. Any ideas?

Reducing a large image

When I reduce a large, black and white image (say, 1900x1600 to 190x160), I get a lot of gray edges. How do I avoid that? None of the color tools seem to have any effect in getting rid of the gray, including Color>Threshold.

Here's an example:

Re: Fill by line art detection

It is necessary to adjust the tolerance in "Lineart Detection Threshold" and "Maximum Gap Length". Lower values will expand the area to be filled. Thanks for this! Lowering the "Maximum Gap Length" to 0 did the trick. I can see where a higher value would be useful, though, for filling an area that ...

Fill by line art detection

Are any of you familiar with (experienced in) using the new "fill by line art detection" option for the bucket fill tool? It's not working the way I expect, and I'm wondering whether I'm not using it correctly, or whether I'm expecting something it's not designed to do. The demos I've seen show the ...

Re: "Open brush as image" from .ABR file?

Otherwise if you have lots of abr brushes there is a free Windows utility that will unpack and save to png format. https://abrmate.software.informer.com/1.1/ Both worked like a charm, although the AbrMate generates an error (not insurmountable) when I select "Close selected brush set". "Close all b...

Re: Cleaning up an image

Cleaning up an image can mean many things. Once the image(s) are converted to B&W. Usually with a white background and the lines, or main subjects being black. You can use color curves . To help adjust the the white background and remove any stray pixels/anomalies from it. While simultaneously tigh...

Cleaning up an image

Is there a fast way to clean up an image (after converting to black and white, and sometimes reducing in size) to smooth out the lines and make them more precise and sharp? Up to now, I have simply hand-edited the image, pixel by pixel, but that gets pretty tedious, especially for more complex image...

Re: Clear Glass Brumbies Script for GIMP

Hi @tim , could you please check what is wrong with the image that I leave attached? It takes forever to run this script. :crysmiley: With the image you provided I can also get a result in a few seconds, very fast. Not Tim, but based on my own experience, I would say that you need to make the eleph...

Re: How long have you been using GIMP for?

Wow, a little over a year now. I joined here in December 2018, although I may have started with GIMP a month or two earlier, no more than that. I've come a long way since the beginning, but I'm still very much a novice, always trying to figure out how to mimic what I see elsewhere. My primary use is...
