Re: How to replace PS "Fill" in Gimp?

edit: I did this just prior to your post so a quick look at that video: Well it is PS layer effects. Best guess use a layer + layer mask. Same as Tin (no use PS) and Wallace (more info required) however, In Gimp we only have control over opacity. Look above the opacity slider in the bucket fill tool...

Re: Python Fu not available in GIMP

Python is certainly there in the gimp.org Gimp 2.10.6 I did this video https://youtu.be/CHHqlHdmQ0o on how easy for a complete OSX novice to install scripts and plugins. From memory installing Gimp was just downloading and clicking the .dmg image file then making python plugins executable (seems a c...

Re: Python Fu not available in GIMP

It is the way linux package management works. A package will have certain dependencies. Packages that are essential and others that are 'recommended' or 'suggested'. Caught someone out on g-f.net a week or so ago. Debian slipped up in the packaging or possibly, since python 3 is standard in Ubuntu 1...

Re: Scripts (and Plug-ins) for Gimp 2.10.x

Try running gimp in a terminal gimp-2.10.exe --verbose or as example gimp-console-2.10.exe screenshot: https://i.imgur.com/A9WGtzQ.jpg see if you get any errors showing. As an alternative the gmic plugin has a version of the flamboyance procedure. https://i.imgur.com/gkZfKVf.jpg Chances are it will ...

Re: What's a good set of brushes to use

..For example, if i draw a circular path then you'll get same brush angles going generally in the direction of a circle. Making an animated brush that follows direction would look like this https://i.imgur.com/qV1qHNX.jpg ...an animated brush where each frame is variation of a brush but they genera...

Re: I want to breed more python fu coders.

Thankfully when I log in I get out of all that darkness ;) Going back a long time, as an engineer I was taught "FORTRAN" and then with home computers "BASIC" was not too difficult. One problem these days is, nothing is really new, you think of some marvellous effect, already been done. However for G...

Re: A way to browse through all GEGL effects and filters (v2.10.6)

All the 2.8 GEGL operations are there, but have been incorporated into the Gimp 2.10 menu structure according to effect. So you will have to browse to find them. For example the 2.8 GEGL 'mirrors' is now correctly renamed kaleidoscope in the Distorts menu. All the GEGL filters have a 'G' icon, non-G...

Re: Scripts and plugins

Faster than the internet archive. The whole registry.gimp.org site has been backed up here: https://github.com/pixlsus/registry.gimp.org_static/ If you click on the Clone or download button you can download that as a zip. It is big 157 MB. Unzip then browse through the files folder for any particula...

Re: Mosaic Poster from video frames guide & plug-ins

Your mpg video file might have a frame rate of 25 (PAL) or 29.97 (NTSC) frames per second. That is a lot of pictures and not much colour variation between adjacent images on the timeline. You can thin them down afterwards or use ffmpeg something like this ffmpeg -y -r 25 -i <filename.ext> -r 2 image...

Re: Image/poster made up of individual frames from movie

That will keep you busy on those dark Canadian nights ;) Pixelizing the image first will be interesting To mosaic usually you need good range of colour thumbnails to apply to the source image. You might/might not get it from frames from the movie. A lot these days are very dark, saves on scenery I s...
