Re: How to get vintage "deckle edge" border?

There is another way, use a grayscale brush as a stamp using the eraser tool. A photograph deckle edge was typically symmetrical. I have one or two with diferent patterns this screenshot is a repeating rounded one. Books would have that torn deckle edge and Wallaces example is as good as you get. I ...

Re: Trouble with Gradients

The banding in the 'goal' is of course due to a limited number of colours, 256, greyscale or indexed mode. Keep in RGB mode and in theory 16 bit precision will be better than 8 bit precision. (not too sure that the Gimp gradient tool actually works in 16 bit yet ;) ) Blighty has a good point about d...

Re: Writing Text ?

Ohhh..not that easy It is possible to break a text-to-path apart so that there is just a single path. Have to treat each letter as a new path, even the dot on an 'I' Much reversing of paths for direction, As a (not-so-quick) try-out using fenceposts script https://imgur.com/HUjtM3F.gif must be an ea...

For a center line trace (path) Inkscape has an extension for that but it does need autotrace installing. I did once get it working in Windows. For a stick font, worth looking up fonts for engr...

Re: Color to Alpha on (Visible/Linked/or Whatever) Layers

I would keep your old script-fu's ;) Put them in an archive "just-in-case". One thing that is still possible with script-fu that python is not able, is load on-the-fly. https://i.imgur.com/Xq68EBw.jpg Using Ofnuts resource mangaer, this my "might need sometime" collection and look at that, a C2A for...
