Barber's pole.

I used this image
https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/ ... rspole.jpg
Then I used this script
scrolling-and-wraps-layer-animation-script-for-gimp-414
animated horizontally then rotated back to original orientation.

Tin, if you have time, could you please give a little tutorial on how you did the animated barber pole? It furthers the use for the filter that you wrote so nicely. I might then be able to apply its use to other things.

All i did was this.
1) rotate the barber pole image so that it's horizontal because the script only animates horizontally.
2) cut out the pole portion and make copies of it horizontally, so that it fills from one edge to the other, or wider.
3) If you animate now you'll have the pole going through across the whole image.
4) So i added a copy of the whole image on top, cutting out the pole part to reveal the moving pole from step 2(acting like a cover layer).
5) Animate script, having the extended pole in step 2 selected.
6) So you have the animation sideways, now just rotate the whole image so that it's back to vertical and you're done.

More graphical details and steps here --> How to animate barber's pole
