This script needs python LayerFX2.8.py
you can tell that you have the script by opening an image and right-clicking
on a layer in the layers box. The the drop down menu appears an looking
at or very near the bottom you will see Layer Effects. That is the python
version this this script uses.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
If not, download LayerFX.2.8.py, easy to find with a google search.
LayerFX.2.8.py needs to go into your Gimp plug-ins folder.
When they have been placed, restart Gimp and look again to verify!
The python version doesn't interfere with the Script Fu version.
You can have both of them at the same time with no troubles.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
In the zip file you should find a copy of Conbagui's
tutorial_traje_del_hombre_ara_a_y_materiales_by_conbagui-d8ngnly.zip
which this script was based on.
If you enjoy learning new things in Gimp, I recommend you follow
his tutorials, there is always something new to learn in each of them!
Thank you for another excellent tutorial Conbagui!
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
Also, from his tutorial you should have received these pattern files, of which
two are patterns that need to be moved into your GIMP patterns folder.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Scratched Metal.jpg
Spiderman pattern.pat
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
The other is a picture to be opened in GIMP to add the detail to your
creation, so keep that one handy or put it into a folder that you use for
'stock' photos or just anywhere you will know where to look when it's needed
--- --- --- --- ---
Spider.png
--- --- --- --- ---
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
Also in the package, I have included 2 pattern files. The are basically the
same, Spider Suit.pat has white background (for use when following the tutorial
and learning a tip about channels). The other, Spider Suit Alpha, is used by the script.
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Spider Suit.pat
Spider Suit Alpha.pat
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Also put these two into your GIMP patterns folder so the script will find them.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
And lastly, This instruction sheet
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
BA_Conbagui_Spiderman_Instructions .txt
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- --- ---
(what you are possibly reading at this time...)
oh, also the python script
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ------ --- --- ---
BA_Conbagui_Spiderman.py
--- --- --- --- --- --- --- ------ --- --- ---
which should be moved into your Gimp plug-ins directory.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
Alright then, to get started it is always good to do the tutorial first
the script doesn't give you any useful and real knowlege of how to use gimp.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
When you would like to run the plug-in, start GIMP and open a new image,
or just drop a photo file onto the GIMP icon on your desktop.
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
When you have it ready, you run the script (don't watch the 'marching ants'
my nephew watched them for 20 minutes and he hasn't been the same since..)
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
As usual, some things could not be scripted - such as the I-Warp which only
works in the UI. So, when you have your outcome, Make New from Visible
and then you can do the I-Warp by following along with Conbagui's tutorial,
and you can also I-Warp the spider and add text along with the treatments
using LayerFX that are all explained quite well!
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
The outcome of this script is a 10 layer stack with the generated gradient
background at the bottom. Included in the script is the ability to switch some
colors around for experimentation. If you wonder why changing black won't
change the black on the pattern, you should know - because I was lazy.
You can play with the layer stack by changing modes and watching the results.
You can move the layer order around to see what happens. It is good to
look at the results and play as it will help you to learn how the layers modes
interact with each other and the outcome. You can swap the background out.
With all the color changing that can be done,
I still like Conbagui's defaults the best, it looks great!
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
=== === === === === === === === === === === === === === === ===
R1 gives options for pattern face color, and mode.
