Custom font

Post#1 by Pat625 » 03 Jun 2017, 18:51

Tin, I am having trouble with using the Custom font on path. It will not let me use the apostrophe no matter what I do. I get different messages and have tried it with a few different fonts but could not get it to work. If I use the regular Custom font script, there is not a problem and it works well. Any ideas as to the problem. Attached is one of my fonts that I am having trouble with.

I found your problem.
In your .xcf the layer's name for apostrophe is ´.png
But if you look carefully it's a special character that isn't the typical apostrophe which is '.png
You'll have to rename that layer to '.png instead of ´.png (There is a difference).
I just did it and it works.

I'm not sure what to do, Tin. That is what the apostrophe is on my keyboard.

are you sure? it's a little different...it might look like it but it's not.
worse case you can copy the apostrophe that i posted. See difference here.
´´´´´´´´´´´´´ <---- yours currrently defining layer name.
''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' <---- my keyboard.
You can always make a copy of the layer so that they're both defined. the one currently defined and the one using the keyboard one.

Here try this .xcf (it has both apostrophe defined)

Tin, I hate to be a pest but yours did not work either. This is the error I received, and the script would not run.

It worked for me when I draw a path and used "Pat's text".
Can you upload the .xcf of the image that you tried to run script on? and the text you were trying to generate?

Yes. Here it is, Tin. Not finished as not sure what to do about the text. The only way I did text at the top was to just leave a space where the apostrophe would have been and put it in manually later. That way the script ran. It's a mystery to me why it works with the plain custom fonts script.
