Design a custom card using template

I thought i would create an .xcf template file for people who want to design their own custom cards (for special occasions).
Here's what the temlate looks like
Card_Template.png
gimplearn.net custom card template preview
Card_Template.png # (25.88 KiB) Viewed 9039 times (Thumbnail | Recognize | Sq Tile | LNFI)
In it, there are paths and cut-lines on separate layers of typical card sizes.
You can toggle visibility of those lines on/off to export to your finished product.

Instructions:
1. Download template (.xcf file).
Card_Template.xcf #
gimplearn.net card template xcf
(43.57 KiB) Downloaded 775 times
2. Open template in GIMP.
3. Design the right half however you like to fit in your desired size. If your design is slightly larger than the size, you can crop it down by selecting one of paths/vectors of the corresponding size and invert selection and clear/cut away.
4. Toggle the cut-lines on/off to show you the desired size.
5. Print it out on 8.5" x 11" sheet.
6. Cut along the dotted lines (don't cut the center line).
7. Fold the center-line.
8. Write your personal message inside (other side [non-printed side]) to give it personal feel.
9. Sign it with love.
10. That's it.
Please feel free to use this template to design custom cards and share your ready to print cards (that others who aren't so artistic could use). Just please attach a preview (for quick image reference in showcase and what not) and attach the .xcf file as well.
A Big "Thank-You" in advance to those who do wish to share their custom card designs.

See some (sample) cards printed!

I'll volunteer to do the first design that people might be able to use for birthdays.

Very nice idea, Tin. I'll participate if I can conjure up an idea.

Thanks Pat, I was thinking of ways to make GIMP more usable by other people who might just be interested in finished products like ready designed cards where they can just choose one and load up and print without knowing too much about editing (At least at first until they play around more).

It's a good way to promote gimplearn.net and GIMP in general I think if we had more cards available.

It's also a chance for GIMP to make something real in the physical world.

My design is to have 4 images. It is necessary to fold first the horizontal dotted line and then the dotted vertical line.
It is a final rectangle 1263*951
You have to set your upper images upside down, I mean that following the order of numbers, image 2 and image 3 will be upside down so that when you fold the lines those images will be set correctly.
I hope it can be helpful.

Don’t be afraid to start over. It’s a new chance to rebuild what you want.

great idea Issabella.
It's going to be thicker more like a card because of the double layer and you can have design inside as well.
Thanks.

Thanks Tin. People can replace the black rectangles for their images and add text where they want.
But the base can be press at once if paper isn't thick I think that it will be nice.
