Python perspective (Transform) question

In GIMP python I have several layers (+ some text) that I want to transform using the perspective tool.

What is the most efficient way to do this?

Should I assign all the layers (+ text) to a group layer and run the perspective tool on the group layer?

Or something else...?

You can link them by setting their linked attribute using
pdb.gimp_item_set_linked
then if you transform one of the linked item, all linked items will have the same transform.
At least that's how it works in the front end.
