GIMP is more popular than I thought

Since i just added the saving keywords search feature yesterday, I thought i would do some research into people searching for GIMP.
More popular than I thought, GIMP is searched at least 1 million times each month. It's in the range of 1 million to 10 million.

gimp_in_keyword_planner.png # (35.8 KiB) Viewed 191 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)

So it's anywhere from 30,000+ times to 300,000+ times a day. That's a huge number.
If our forum get any closer to the top, we'll have a lot of people finding us. :yay_yay_purple:

So in that spirit:
Write something about GIMP in the replies. Like what does GIMP mean to you personally? Could you live (happily) without GIMP?
I know GIMP is free, which is great, but would you pay for GIMP to use monthly like how others are paying for Photoshop? and how much?
What would you tell people if you wanted to introduce them to GIMP, and if they knew nothing about GIMP.

GIMP is one of the first software i download when i factory reset my computer. It's a must have for me. I feel crippled (gimpy) without it. If I was to pay for GIMP, I'll probably be willing to pay up to $20 a month to have access to it. GIMP is my digital playground. I'd tell people that GIMP replaces my need for Photoshop. Most people know what Photoshop is but there's a huge number of people that just have never heard of GIMP.

Gimp for me is the best stress reliever hands down, the more I learn the more I need it. I would pay 10 to 20 monthly if required (i'm super grateful it's free though)!! Gimp takes my mind and makes me focus when i'm drowning in chaos. The first thing I think that would get their attention is it's free, and with time and joining up on Gimp Learn (which is also free) the possibilities are endless.

Yeah I also forgot to mention that you get to meet people who use GIMP which is a big part in my social life too.
Without GIMP, forums like this one wouldn't exist, and you wouldn't meet people online (well at least not in the same context).
My life would be more boxed in.

GIMP isn't about the money.
It's about having the freedom to choose.
Open-source software licenses,
give users freedom that they wouldn't otherwise have.
The opposite of open-source software is closed-source software,
which has a license that restricts users and keeps the source code from them.
The “free” in free software means “free as in freedom".
The free software camp,
led by Richard Stallman and the Free Software Foundation,
focuses on the ethics and morals of using software,
that can be controlled and modified by the user.
In other words,
the free software camp focuses on user freedoms.
That's part of how GIMP got it's name,
GIMP - GNU Image Manipulation Program.
Without RMS (Richard Matthew Stallman) there would be no GIMP.
