First off, thank you Tim! This is an absolutely amazing plugin.

I'm getting good results, however I'm not able to get all of the symbols to show up. On one image (Belle from beauty and the beast) only the first and last unicode symbols listed in the layer manager show up on the actual image. I tried again with the gimp logo image and only 5 symbols showed up. I went into the python script and found the line you referenced in one of the previous comments and forced it to only use numbers, but saw the same behavior; only a few sets of numbers showed up on the final image. My Belle image has 24 individual colors and corresponding symbols on the thread info window and all the symbols show there, just not the actual image. Any ideas what could be causing this? I'm sure I've just got something set up incorrectly. Thanks again!

Which version did you use? and parameters you've used and from what source image. I'll have to run it myself to see what's wrong.

I used version 22 (the newest one on the first page) and I'm running gimp 2.10.8 on a win10 machine. For example, I just used the gimp logo on the wikipedia page with no adjustments of any kind. My settings are pure DMC colors only, 20 colors (the image comes up as using 17 colors), no dithering, cubic interpolation, delta-e color match, and 100 horizontal stitches. All of the layers get named properly with symbols, it's just on the actual image itself that they're missing. For this particular image I'm getting 5 of the symbols showing up on the image out of the 17 listed. It's colors 3, 7, 15, 16, and 17 that show up it that helps. Although that seems to be change across different images.

if you choose 20 colors and it can only do 17 unique colors then it'll do 17 but they should all show up/render.

Yeah, that's what I figured...better to go high on the color count make sure all of them get included. Here's link to an uploaded screenshot that hopefully describes better what I'm talking about. Let me know if it doesn't work.

I have 2.10.20 And it's running fine.
I am not sure about 2.10.8 because for version 2.10 and up it tries to use new select by color method different from 2.8.
So I wonder if that's a buggy in 2.10.8.
You should try going up higher with GIMP and see what happens other than I don't know what it could be.

okay, sounds good. I'll give that a try then. Thanks again for all the help!

Edit: That did the trick. Updated to 2.10.22 and everything is working wonderfully!

great news, so it's a bug in GIMP and not my plug-in that's good to know and thanks for letting me know.
This will help with future users.
