Gimp Windows Hang When Closing?

Post#1 by Wallace » 16 Sep 2017, 22:49

I recently installed GIMP 2.8.22 and all went well.
There is one nagging issue, which I can't seem to figure out.
I'm using the multiple window mode and when I close GIMP's main window.
The other two windows, left and right of the main window hang there for nearly 10 seconds before finally closing.
Anyone know what could be causing this?

Below is a gif image.
showing my desktop while closing GIMP.

When I look at Task Manager,
while using multiple window mode.
It show this for GIMP...

When in single window mode,
it looks like this...
Capture_B.PNG

There seems to be a clear difference in Task Manager.
Between using single window mode and multiple window modes.
However, the program should close at the same instance,
whether or not it's in single or multiple window mode.

I have Windows 10 and Gimp 2.8.22. I use multiple windows. Lately, I am now having the problem of the side windows remaining for a short while after the main window is shut down. No explanation as did not originally have a problem with this setup. Have had Windows updates, though.

Just a thought...
Probably more to save when using multiple windows (at the least, the windows positions).
Maybe settings to save also. Should only take a short time, I guess a test would be open
gimp, then close it without doing anything so there would be nothing extra to save, and
seeing how long it takes to close. Then open and use it, move the windows etc.. then
save and compare.. If after use it takes longer, it may be normal.
Like closing a dirty image takes longer than a clean one.
I have no suggestions how to fix if it is not normal.

I've done that and just about everything else I can think of.
Nothing I've done has worked to fix this, if this is something that can be fixed.
My next course of action is to downgrade to GIMP 2.8.18, which is what I had before,
with no issues.
