Tin,
Do you know what happens when a site goes down? Can any of the information in it get obtained? I'm thinking of all the tutorials and resources stored there.

According to Wallace's email, Omega paid the renew DNS so it should be up long time ago. I don't know why it's taking so long.
And if this site went down, I am sure I can contact my host to get the content (if i haven't backed up the content myself) if i wanted to move somewhere else for hosting, there might be a cost involved (not sure).
Never done it myself though.

Things I liked about GC, the format seemed very comfortable and easy to use, the people so warm and friendly, and the huge amount of information stored there. I would love it if this forum, GC, and Gimp_forum were all interconnected. They each have their good points and you can never have too much information on Gimp!

I tried to grow roots into GC by having reference links back to GC. but since it's down all those links are now broken.

Tin,

@ Pat : Normally you can backup the database and the files from the server. For database backups there are scripts to do that. Software that is installed to the server similar like the forum software.
The files can be backed up via FTP. Only trouble is ... you must have access data to do it. And that would be Omega's part.

Cheers

I am pretty sure Omega didn't renew the DNS.
As it should only take maximum 48hrs for DNS to propagate through out the www.
(PS. damn it that means all my links to GC are now broken)
