It's really a shame that someone runs a GIMP Forum who's not the least interested in it.
I think if he doesn't want to run it anymore or can't do it for whatever reason ... he should hand things over to someone else ... someone who cares.

If Omega paid a good amount of money for the site from GNUTux, I doubt he'll just hand things over to someone else for free....
You're right though, him handing it to someone else so they can revive it would be great.

(Note to self: never let gimplearn.com shut down, even if it meant me quitting drinking coffee to pay for hosting).

Tried Ofnuts approach but Windows will not let me modify/save the 'hosts' file.

You have to edit the hosts file as administrator.
In windows, search for NotePad right click on it and click run as administrator then use that notepad to open your hosts file. hope that helps. it's pretty lonely there at gimpchat.com right now

OK thanks, will try that.

But attempts on Android (Chrome) and Linux (Thunderbird) devices that have never attempted to reach GC before, both came up with error messages saying the site was not available.

So if novice devices/users cannot reach the site it will probably stay lonely over there.

EDIT well now I can get back into GC; but I reiterate what I said above ... surely anybody typing in gimpchat.com in their browser should be able to access the forum??
