Thankyou Ella, I'm glad you like it, my next challenge is to 'tackle' other hair colors, I'm finding blonde quite difficult, all the tutorials i have watched and read have either 'fantasy' hair or variations of red/redish brown so I guess blonde may be tuf to tackle.
dinasset suggested adjusting the contrast and/or brightness of the overall image and I like the outcome...

You're right, RJKD. The contrast/brightness is better.
But be careful with it, now the face is less detailed, the nose and the shadows for instance.
And the face looks very pale to me now.
Although, red headed people mostly have a pale skin.

Just my peronal point of view. I'm not an artist :)

Oh yes you are my dear friend and a good one at that. You're correct about the face, I didn't make any real depth to it this time as I spent so much time on the hair (silent scream!). I have some tutorials waiting on how to create realistic skin.
so now...keep trying to perfect the ultimate hair brush
...learn how to create realistic eyeballs
...learn how to create realistic skin
see you on the Christmas tree he he

No, no, Richard, what I meant was that on the previous outcome the nose and the shadows were more visible than on the last one,
with the changed contrast and brightness.

Sure you want to improve on the skin, the eyes ...
But that wasn't what I meant.
Compare the 2 outcomes and you'll see.
Also the neck and the chin are more pronounced.
On the second outcome the face looks more flattened.

Hope I made myself a bit more clear.

Yes, and Christmas is only 4 months to go from now. You must hurry :)

Ok, here is my 4th head, the biggest lesson I learned with this one - have a full and proper plan, I made very heavy going of this one thanks to p p preparation. However I learned a lot. I watched some flashy Photoshop tutorials and finally reverted to mainly very old Gimp ones to achieve my desired effect. Also I cheated with this one and used a cut-out of the head gear...

Richard, if I had to pay you for every hour you spent on this outcome, I think I would be out of money.
What a beautiful result !!!
The face has a real expression, the eyes look vivid, the gradients and shadows on the face, the teeth, the nuances on the beard ...

And the cheating, well, one can't learn everything in such short time.

Congrats to you ! :gimp_clap: :golden_wilber: :golden_wilber: :golden_wilber:

RJKD - wow, you really are moving quickly. I'm afraid I'm out of my depth in your subject area, especially given Ella's sophisticated critiques but, as far as I am concerned, it looks good to me; well done :gimp_clap:
