Sorry, but I can't understand the tutorial  Tried several times.
Maybe a bit too succinct for my poor brain ...
Look at my sequence (standard):
Outcome no 1.PNG
Outcome no 1.PNG # (310.89 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
Outcome no 2.PNG
Outcome no 2.PNG # (133.81 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
Outcome no 3.PNG
Outcome no 3.PNG # (282.78 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
Outcome no 4.PNG
Outcome no 4.PNG # (131.5 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
Outcome no 5.PNG
Outcome no 5.PNG # (264.34 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
FINAL OUTCOME.PNG
FINAL OUTCOME.PNG # (300.74 KiB) Viewed 163 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
Now, as Issabella said, tell which step you can't implement

Thank you both, Issabella and Diego.

Now I see what I did wrong.
The tutorial said: "Take a copy of ..."
I made a "copy and paste" in the same window.

I have to paste it as a new image. I was working with all the layers in one window.

I'll try again, maybe tomorrow.

My try, don't know if I did everything right this time.
I doubt it...

Thanks Ella.
If you post the original I can see whether the procedure followed is the std one.

I'm afraid I still do some things wrong.
Must the first outcome (the limestone pattern layer and the source image) merged down?
It makes a difference when you have to copy outcome one.

I'll post the original image in a zip file so you have the right size.

I think the same, Ella.
Anyhow I'll repeat the std procedure and let you know.

Repeated, only changed the std threshold from 247 to 239.
Here my results:

which shows as
FINAL-STEP.png
FINAL-STEP.png # (1.01 MiB) Viewed 128 times (Watermarked | Thumbnail)
I guess it confirms what you said, the pattern was missing from your outcome.
