Post#1 by trandoductin » 29 Sep 2016, 04:50

1.Create new image with square dimensions (same width and height) in GIMP
2.Set up guides horizontally and vertically dividing the image into 4 squares evenly.
3.Now tick View->Snap to Grid and tick View->Snap to active Path
4.Use the "Ellipse Select Tool" to select the first circle, hold Shift and select the second circle (nap to grid ticked in step 3. previously makes it perfect).

5. Select -> To Path (to turn those circles into paths so that we can snap to active path in the next step)
6. Turn visibility on for circular path created in step 5.
7. Use the "Free Select Tool" to select the triangle shown below, start with the very bottom point, then the diagonal line toward the right side of image, you might zoom in for the 2nd point to make it near perfectly placed in such away that it continues nicely with the circular path, then click the point above center of image but where 2 circles meet, then click the bottom point again to close the path.

There you have it a heart shape composed from 2 triangles and 2 circles.
To select the heart. Select any path and right click and select "Path to selection" and then right click the other paths and select "Add to selection" and you'll have the whole heart selected.
Now you can add a layer and fill the selection (by dragging a color onto the selected area).
