Nancy, with the explanation from both of you, I surely have to succeed :)
Maybe I do a happy dance as well then
For today I "repaired" Gimp as it was before. The astronomy plug-in is for tomorrow.
I had a little family celebration.

Thanks again Eddie an Nancy. And fingers crossed for tomorrow :)

Despite the good explanation I can't manage to install the plug in and then to show up in filters.
I removed it all again.
But since I'm not such a hug space fan, I don't think I should use it a lot.

Anyway, thanks for your willingness to help, Eddie and Nancy!

Well Ella, you gave your all. But in the same folder I included an alternative filter name Starry sky. You can use it as well.

Nancy, you mention scripts I found only 1 script in the folder.

Then I'll have to download the Astronomy folder again to find that filter.

Yes when I unzipped and opened the folder I had a plugins folder and a scripts folder. In that same window I made a new folder and named it Astronomy plugins and put the plugins folder in there. Then created another new folder and named it astronomy scripts and put scrips folder in there then put that in my gimp scripts folder. Then I moved the new astronomy plugin folder to my plugins folder gimp2.8. After that I followed Eddies tut to get it into gimp. Unless something has changed or Eddie updated or something after I downloaded it. I downloaded the zip from gimp chat.

There is no script file Inside the Astronomy folder, do not place the script file inside the Astronomy folder. I included this filter "Starry sky" so you have another option to make stars. Unzipped the file the copy and place the Starry sky filter in your Gimp Script filter (You don't need to create a folder unless you have all your filters in the addOnManager). Only the Astronomy folder goes to your Gimp plugins, copy the folder and place it there.
