How to keep our own brushes and patterns

Post#1 by Issabella » 24 Jul 2017, 10:59

I've read that some members ask about the steps to follow to keep brushes and patterns created by themselves. I did a pdf file trying to explain how to do it.
I hope it helps.
Please, go to the PDF posted at number 6 because I added Conbagui's information. (thanks)

There is two thing I can contribute with Issabella's tutorial if she doesn't mind.
Brush
1. Once you have done creating your Brush, If you want to keep your brush as Black all the time or if it's in color you just Export or Save it like Issabella explain. But if you want the brush to pick up any Foreground color you set on the Color selection dialog, you need to go to: Image> Mode and change the Mode to> Grayscale. Here is an few examples:

One rule for creating brushes
A. To keep brush as black color or as the color of the image. You won’t be able to paint any color but black only or the color you export it to.

B. This setting is to Paint as the color you use on the Foreground Color selection dialog. You can use it to paint in any color (Preferred setting)

C. Something to keep in mind
Saving Patterns; you can save the pattern with no transparency using Gimp extension .pat or with transparency to keep transparency.

D. If the pattern is a jpg, you can still save them as .jpg, since jpg keep the background.
