Thankyou rich, again your assistance is most appreciated. How much of a leap for a tech dummy like me would Linux be?

An update. A lot easier to dig around in linux and the reason for no jpeg support is - Ofnuts has not included jpeg as a supported file type.

Easy enough to add to the script. Add to that extensions line, which here is line 118

Code: Select all

		'patterns':{
			'extensions':'.png .pat .jpg .jpeg .PNG .PAT .JPG .JPEG'
			},
If you do not have a decent editor (notepad+ or similar) I have attached the mod. Remember to unzip it befor putting in your Gimp plug-ins. It will be a good idea to delete the pluginrc file in your Gimp profile and let Gimp scan the plugins again to create a new one.

The easiest way is still - just use png.

It is a matter of what you are used to. I gave up after WinXP - about 2005 ish
Just use what you are used to, I would suggest getting some better tools, Notepad+ as an editor and a decent 2-pane File manager, TotalCommander or similar.

Sorry RJKD, can't help you. I don't know what AddOnCollection Manager is, never used it.
This plugin lets you quickly activate or deactivate collections of add-ons. This reduces clutter in the add-ons lists and improves Gimp performance by reducing the number of add-ons it needs to cache. Was created by Ofnut, I use it for the ton of brushes I have installed in Gimp. With this plugin, you can activate any addons like Brushes, pattern, Scripts, etc... and when you start Gimp the add ons won't get activated.go here for more info.

Thanks for the detailed explanation and the links, Conbagui.
I'll have to read and explore a lot, I think.

I simply deleted my old AOCManager (couldn't find the rc file) installed rich2005's version above and it works better than ever.
For those interested in using this helpful tool see; http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=8&t ... er#p200687

I don't have an 'old' AOCManager. So when I completely download this fresh one. It should be working fine... I hope :)
Thanks again, RJKD and Rich. Will try it out later.

It's beginning to be crowded in my Gimp folders, patterns, brushes, fonts... and so on :)
