Mike License Plate Script for GIMP

Post#1 by tim » 03 Nov 2016, 13:49

I just thought this tutorial on gimpChat was worth automating.
So here it is.
You need to have layerfx.py from http://registry.gimp.org/node/186 installed.
Here's the script
:download:
Mike_License_Plate.zip #
zipped .py file (unzip, put in your GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder)
(2.22 KiB) Downloaded 116 times
Menu location: Python-Fu -> Create New -> Mike License Plate...

Script options:

Example run with default settings: GLF-061 because it stands for GIMP LEARN FORUM and well 61 because the 6 looks like a G and the 1 looks like the L or whatever. :lol:

Nice plate,
glad you like it.
Thanks to Mike!

Your plate looks like it's got snow on the numbers, if you want you can Ctrl-Z to undo the flatten image step or choose to Not Flatten Image in script options. Then you can lower the opacity of the "Text Bevel-Highlight" layer.

And I did a few merge downs and then played with colorizing the plate and background and state text.

Seems quite typical by now, having problems ...I've got layerfx2.8py and layerfx.scm installed My problem could be my starting point, I'm simply creating a new image filled with black then running the script (tried running it on a transparent layer above black as well) I get the following error message
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\lib\gimp\2.0\python\gimpfu.py", line 736, in response
dialog.res = run_script(params)

return apply(function, params)
File "C:\Users\Richard\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\Mike_License_Plate.py", line 81, in python_mike_license_plate

I don't know why it's giving you error.
try UN-installing layerfx.2.8.py

I'm using ofnuts AOM, had to select my "Gimp original" folder as the script uses pattern/s from them. Also double checked, needed to uninstall LayerFx 2.8
