Loveley outcomes dinasset, I was following you response to Tim;
"- create a convolution
- invert luma
- remove blacks
- dupl the convolution and colorize (Yellow)
- add a plasma"
I can't find an invert luma in my Gimp and have looked online for a plug-in but to no avail, can you help please?

Dinasset, do you have a name for the process you explained? The one used on the frangipani image. I have tried to follow your instructions but I think I need more practice (as usual).

I called the effect "shining" and I'm preparing a filter to create those, but I have to wait my precious tester who is currently deeply busy with her role of mother and grandmother before releasing it.
This is a combo of what you may currently get from that WIP filter.

For all those who liked my "experiments" on creating shining effects, that sequence of steps is now a released filter:
http://gimpscripts.com/2017/04/shining/
You may use the "work image" (one of the 2 outcomes generated, the other one is the "montage"), without "flattening", to play with modes and opacities and get different results which could be closer to your taste.
