Nelo Plaid Background Script for GIMP

Nelo has a neat trick that uses smooth palette to create a cool looking plaid background that matches your image's color.
Script location: Python-Fu -> Nelo Plaid Background...
:download:
nelo_plaid_background.zip #
Zipped .py file (unzip and put in your GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder)
(1.39 KiB) Downloaded 67 times
nelo_plaid_background (2).zip #
version 2, not use hardcoded "Clipboard" for other languages.
(1.45 KiB) Downloaded 53 times
Insructions:
1. Have a layer you want to create smooth palette from selected.
2. Run Script,
  • Enter smooth palette search depth (default 50 works)
  • Enter expand border (pixels)
  • Click "OK" to run script
3. Done. You'll have 2 layers added at bottom o your image. Bottom layer at 100% opacity, 2nd bottommost layer at 50% opacity.

Sample result:

That's what I wanted to say: good idea of scripting it.
Just did a short test on some photos .... really nice and quick now. I'll post result later. Too tired today after garden work today.

Very nice script by Nelo, I'd like to see the original image on a separate layer with a flatten option (for the addition of a drop shadow e.t.c.)

Sorry I meant to say I'd like a flatten option, output already comes in separate layers :hammer_head:
