One of my early restoration jobs.

During the three weeks I was without internet, I did a few photo restorations. A friend reminded me of the first major repair job I did for him.
It was a little tricky!!!

what the hell?
That's completely awesome..since there's no front of the boat and you made it look convincing.

That is a spectacular job! What did you use for a reference for the missing area?

I was extremely lucky, in that there was a photocopy of the original photograph.
I used this to make a composite, so that I could achieve the correct alignment.
The missing parts were taken from published pictures of other boats of the same series. They had to be de-screened, scaled to fit, distorted (because the pictures were taken at different angles) and finally adjusted for contrast and brightness to blend with the original image.
The bow was taken from one picture and I manually painted in the number using the photocopy as a template.
The front of the cockpit and the rope locker were taken from another picture.

I have no artistic ability, so I had to use the tools and available images to produce the result.

At many stages during the process I duplicated layers and saved the file under different names in case I made a mess and had to backtrack!!!
