Parallel gradients, a script looking for a purpose

Post#1 by Steve Reid » 25 Jul 2017, 15:29

I had the idea for this script but no idea of what it could be used for, other than sometimes it gives a pleasing abstract

The script is located "<Image>/Filters/Artistic/Parallel gradients...",
parallel-gradients.zip #
(1.29 KiB) Downloaded 25 times
The images below with the values used give an idea of what is going on

If you input minus values, they are set to zero
If you input values larger than the image width or height, the inputs are reset to the maximum image width or height

I've tried to iron out all the errors but can't guarantee it, if the script crashes or you get strange results i'd be grateful to know

It's complicated to describe, but I've tried below, although its probably easier to try it out on an image

As an example with horizontal mode selected

The first line of pixels, selects a vertical column of pixels (width x 1) at your input value on the X axis and copies and pastes it horizontally on layer 1, the 3rd and fourth input values being the boundaries
The second line of pixels, selects a vertical column of pixels (width x 1) at your input value on the X axis and copies and pastes it horizontally on layer 2, the 3rd and fourth input values being the boundaries
A gradient is applied across layer 1 using the 3rd and fourth input values as boundaries

If instead you use vertical mode, you have to think in terms of rows of horizontal pixels rather than columns of vertical pixels

Hi Steve, Thank you so much for your Parallel Gradient Script. It runs without problem. I prepared the image and ran the script.
Here my first result. :D
