That is really very nice, Tom, both images. Notice I had to keep his suit dark as I could not get rid of the white areas across the bottom of the picture. I knew nothing about G'MIC then. I will try those filters. Thanks for the tip.

I tried a different approach but lost track of what was what. The only thing I was disappoint with was a clipping on the ear.
I used the gmic mixer cmyk to remove cyan. Old photo's are hard for me, I hate to do to much to them.

For my first submission I couldn't resist having a try at restoring this photograph.
Being lazy, the jacket, shirt and tie need proper attention, but I wanted to see what I could achieve with the face.

Thank you, David. Do you have any tips for getting rid of the lighter areas and spots on the bottom of the suit jacket? I could not improve that So that is why I made the suit will black.

I did not really do much to the jacket - as is fairly obvious!!!
The lighter patches had a blue cast so I used colour balance, having first selected the areas with a large degree of feathering. Once the hue looked about right I used brightness to blend it in to the surroundings. I also cropped a little from the borders of the photo.

The main challenge for me was to remove the patterning on the face and have that look natural, but to produce a good result I really would need to repeat the process with more care.
