Re: Picture to Line Art Script for GIMP

Post#15 by nateart » 15 Jun 2017, 04:23

Apparently I do not have "Python-Fu" installed
I searched my entire computer, all drives
I searched this site
I searched the Gimp site
I searched my Gimp Plug-ins folders
I found hundreds of scripts for Python-Fu
I have not found the actual plug-in
I installed Gimp 2.8.22 as a full normal install

What am I missing
Where/how do I find Python-Fu to install it?
Thanks... (i'm feeling about as dense as a brick)

sorry I thought you ran a script before..
In the first post I have Script Menu Location as "Script Menu location: Python-Fu/Picture to Line Art"
That's where you'll find it... so you'll see a Menu Python-Fu then Picture to Line Art... kind'a like File/Open but except not

It should come with GIMP. You don't have to install Python-Fu.
after you install my script, there should be a new menu called Python-Fu it's just named like that just like menus File, Layers, Colors or Windows...except it's Python-Fu
Did you install GIMP from https://www.gimp.org/downloads/?
It should already be with it in fact i have never managed to install GIMP without Python-Fu with it.

Thanks... I will re-install from that site
Hopefully the re-install will preserve things
I was wondering if this was the issue
I appreciate your patience - above and beyond the call :aw_shucks_purple:

Did you unzip my file to get .py and copy .py file it to C:\Users\[YOUR_USER_NAME]\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\
Like on mine i have C:\Users\Tim\.gimp-2.8\plug-ins\
Then restart GIMP after the file is there?
Python-Fu should be a new menu shown like below.

If that doesn't work can you screen capture your GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder with the .py file in there?

Script-Fu/Refresh Scripts only works for .scm (scheme script files).
For Python-Fu (.py files) You'll have to restart GIMP
