Issabella - thank you; my wooden eagles come from line art drawings then with chisel/carve on the outside of the line art selection against a wooden pattern. The metallic eagle uses GMIC>Local orientation filters against a coloured image.

Pat - The individual filters I use to obtain metallic outcomes are:
All
YCbCr )(luminance)
Lab (lightness)
Lch (ch chrominances)
HSL (lightness)
CMYK (key)
YIQ (luma)

There are only three params for these filters and you can play with those too as required.

I do not tend to do much else to the result except for facial photos where I may overlay a desaturated copy to emphasise features.

I created this wooden owl, I have to improve the results using this filter, so I try it from time to time. :aw_shucks_purple:

Issabella - I really like that owl, especially the detail you have brought out in the eyes. We have a Boobook owl close by that sends us to sleep each night ... ooh ooh!

That is such a wonderful owl, Issabella. It looks like you could just reach out and touch it.
