Random Rip Script for GIMP (Paper rip effect selection)

After looking at the artist (Noli Novak) link posted in Stipple/hedcut portraits (on gimpchat.com) (first post).
I looked at her collage work as well and was inspired to put in effort to create something that makes a selection look like ripped paper.
So here's the script.
:download:
random_rip.zip #
zipped .py file (unzip, put in your GIMP's /plug-ins/ folder)
(2.09 KiB) Downloaded 49 times
Script Menu Location: Python-Fu/Random Rip...

Instructions:
1. Have an active selection.
2. Run Script (Python-Fu/Random Rip...). Adjust settings (Default should be okay). Click "OK" to run.
3. Script will make a similar selection but with random straying from original selection so that you can have a paper rip effect.
4. Fill area with white (as most inner part of paper is usually white).
5. Run Script again.
6. Fill area with your paper color (and the white edges will still be left over at some places that look like paper rip edges).
7. That's it.

Script options:

Sample result of mutliple pieces (It does look look ripped paper glued on top of newspaper doesn't it, I just started with a newspaper background and created my ripped pieces on top).

An idea to try sometime is to use this along with the Fill Average Color Script for GIMP to aid in doing Polygon Art.
So that we can have collages of what looks like paper ripped up pieces of average color pieces.
That should be neat.

Thank you so much Tin, it's something I made once following a tutorial. Your script is going to make very easy to create that effect. I like it a lot. :gimp_clap:
