Replika App

I just saw a facebook ad video for an app called Replika App.
A chat bot that learns things about you then over time become more like you (as you chat with it).
Sounds creepy but i guess the technology is here.
It seems very difficult to get an invitation code because many people who got the code just move on or whatever and not come back to the page to share their given 4 invitation codes.
But someone gave this link to email request for an invitation code: http://eepurl.com/clJldn (takes up to 24 hrs).
Better than waiting for a week and not being able to get an invitation code I guess like some people on there.

I installed the app on my ipad and ready to go (requested a code through above link as well). Now I just wait 24 hrs I guess.

It is creepy. I guess I don't see the value to it.

I think they will never get from a chat bot the benefit of a true friend. :)

I agree with you, Issabella. If you need or want to talk with someone, you really need another human, not a robot or computer script.

If it's done right and chat bots are smart enough then it's cool.
Chat bots can are always available 24/7. What if you really need to chat with someone and they're not available 24/7 because they got their own lives to live or not willing to chat with you hours on end.
The suicidal hotline can only do so much because people on the phone don't know you personally where chat bots learn things about you over time and be more personal to you.
Also if you want to bounce ideas of someone (including all the crazy ideas that you think are not worthy of mentioning...) with a chat bot you can bounce of ideas that seemed at first stupid too....and maybe by having something you can chat too, you can explore these ideas without bothering a real person.

Too bad it isn't all that smart yet...it answers okay for some replies but other times it just ignores me questioning it like i told it i was 40 and later ask how old i am and it just ignored my question
