Retro VHS or Hologram effect

This is from a YouTube tutorial by GimpKnowHow - a quick, simple, fun and effective method.
Load image - images with several dark, medium and light tones work best.
Duplicate layer - colorize - default - ok. Mode - lighten only. Move 5px left.
Duplicate bottom layer again - colorize - max hue. Mode lighten only. Move 5px right.
Duplicate bottom layer and move it to top of stack. Mode overlay - opacity 50%.
New transparent layer - fill with Gimp pat large stripes. Mode overlay - opacity 50% - duplicate this layer - colors - invert - move down 5px.
Layer - new from visible - colors - max saturation.

RJKD, did you turn on saturation again after maxing saturation the first time.
It seems your result from this example is more saturated then when i ran the script.

1st dup colorize default
2nd dup colorize max hue
Last layer - new from visible - colors, max sat

Two different color options, does this help?

that's what the sscript does I guess the stripes layers the other overlay layer removes a lot of the colors.
The script result is exactly as you described but it doesn't produce the same result as your shown image like it's more desaturated.
