Saving an xcf-file with different images

When I work in gimp I always do it in a single window.
Sometimes I have to work with different images.
When I can't finish it at once, I save the xcf-files.
Is there a possibility to save all the different images in one file. So I don't have to save them one by one.
And when I reopen my work I can see all the different images at once.

Hope I made myself clear :? :)

Hi Ella. As long as I know, you can't save two separate windows or works into one in Gimp. I have not found a Batch script to do what you're asking for. Sorry, but that is as far as I know Ella. Now you can open xcf file into another by having open your Main file and Open as Layers all of the other ones then save them in one xcf. That is what are you referring?

Ella, what you're asking for is the ability to save workspace instead of just an .xcf.
As far as i know there is no way to save workspace.
But according to the internet, you can get pretty close to it by opening Windows/Dockable Dialogs/Document History
then you can see thumbnails of images you've worked on and double-clicking on them opens them (be careful as if the image is already opened, it'll open it again).

Thank you both for your reactions, Eddie and Tim.
Saving the file with the other images as layers in it, is an option.
I tried it with the dockable dialogs but when closing Gimp completely, after saving the xcf-file and reopening, the thumbnails were disappeared.
Well I'll save the different files then all one by one.
Thanks for the advice and searching.

Sorry Richard, I don't understand  and I don't know what the link has to do with it.
I only wanted to know if there was a possibility to close and reopen "my work in progress" :) in one click when there were different windows opened.
Like in this example.
