Thank you so much Pat!
I need to study this some. It bugs me!
It doesn't look like it is any problem with Text Along Path, and I would have been quite surprised if it did.

If you find the time, could you please run again (with the text error) and get your outcome,
then follow Conbagui's script at the place where you create the Paths for the Legend using the path tool,
and then save them following the instructions in the next post. And run again (I would hope you would get
and outcome that way .... Even if you just save them one time,
and they give a backwards result, I am very interested to see if your version will let you create the paths
and save them correctly for future use.

Brian, I really am confused about all of this. I had my .svg folder under my user/.gimp. I move it out to the user directory thinking that might have something to do with it but nothing changed. I did an error message re the .svg file or folders did not exist but when I ran the script the paths dialog had all the paths including A & B but they are very little and off to the upper left as shone in a previous screen shot I sent you. I then manually took the little paths, scaled them to the proper size, wrote the text, and ran text along path which worked fine. I then had to position the top and bottom text as this is manually done and finish the coin.
It is a mystery to me. Everything seems to go the way it should except what has to do with the A & B paths which show up very small and off to the side of the image. Does that have something to do with why the script can't find them? It finds all the other paths correctly though. When I try to run the script again, the little paths show up, not the enlargements that I made. Its like they don't know where to go.

With help from Rich2005,
I was able to reproduce the path problem.

I fixed the script to set the image resolution to
300 dpi (which doesn't set your defaults in
GIMP, only the image that the script creates)
and it should work just fine for you now.

Pat, The reason it is only the a & b paths is because
in the script, they are the only 2 that (due to the
path tool not being available from script) had
to be created and saved.
You would have to either overwrite a_path.svg and b_path.svg or
re-name your created svg's to a_path.svg and b_path.svg --
the script retrieves 2 filename (doesn't let you select paths)
in the folder you selected. Hope that helps!

And also posted just the plugin .py file, on page 1 of this thread
so you don't need to download the whole package again...

I print images at local drugstore where they
have Kodak photo printers that you can transfer
your images via thumdrive in a usb port.
It is self service and you can walk out with you
photos or images within a few minutes.
I normally print 8" x 10".
To receive a very nice quality print,
I have set my default image resolution to
300 dpi (dot per inch).
I never really thought about it much, just didn't like the prints at 96 dpi they just didn't look photo sharp and they are much nicer at 300.
I experimented with 900dpi, it took much longer to load the images, and the results were not worth the extra time to me. 300 is plenty for the kiosk printers.

Thank you for your help once again Pat!
It is a fun script when it work right.
(it will still give errors if your text is too long,
but not as many when the a & b paths are the
correct sizes.
