Filter to create Layers for a Ella's spinning coin gif
Brian Andersen July 2017
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
First get Conbagui's Gold Coin tutorial and make a coin
with a front and back. You can find it on Gimplearn.net
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Second, use Ellie's tutorial on Making A Spinning Coin.
You can find that on Gimplearn.net also.
Follow this tutorial to make your background pattern
and a layer stack.
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Make the layer stack exactly as it shows in Ella's tutorial.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Top layer = the Front of the coin
Mid layer = the Back of the coin.
Bottom layer = the pattern for the coins outer edge
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Save the xcf file just in case and leave it open.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
Run this Spinning Coin plug-in
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
You will have an option for a 10 degree slice,
or a 10 degree slice 90 degrees out of phase.

Did I mention, It is SLOW, the map object takes
a while, so go browse on Gimplearn for a while while
it is working.
-- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -
- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- -- --
When it is done, save your .xcf file and then
Ella's tutorial shows you how to your mapped layers
into a nice animated GIF.

Wow, Brian. You are really on a roll! This is so neat. The time consuming part of making the spinning coin being done by the script is great! I must try this as soon as I can.

Brian, to save time as I am having interruptions today, I used the coin I did for Ella's tutorial. It is slow but certainly did the work. I did not take time to do a background or anything fancy because right now I would not get to finish it. Thanks so much.

Brian, does the back coin need to be upside down as with the tutorial?

Pat, yes it needs to be upside down, just like in the tutorial.
It needs to be flipped because of Map Object.
If it seems slow, probably when you created the gif you left the frame time at 100ms,
Open the gif in gimp, and resave with a new filename as a gif, you will get the
gif dialog then (if you don't change the name it just overwrites with no dialog)
, and you can change the time for the frames as low as 30ms which
will speed it up.

Thank you Brian for all your hard work and effort. Using iPad so can't GIMP. Will make coins when I can get to my computer.
