I made one selection inverted, feather 100 px then blured with 10 px radius.
Then i made a wider selection, inverted feather by 100 px then blurred again with 10 px radius.

Here is another one I did manually.

I cheated? Duplicated the image, added Alpha Channel to top image, blurred the top image, then erased the part that I wanted to show through from the bottom image. Tin, are you allowed to cheat? :lol:

Of course, what you did gave much, very much better results!

it depends on the picture. yours is from the top so everything is at the same distance and it should all be in focus. those are not good candidates for tilt shift.
pick a photo that has different distances from and choose/estimate which range would be in focus, and everything else that's nearer or further out of focus.

nope because the picture is top view again so everything is close to the same distance. you need an image that has different depths
