Use color from gradient (SOLVED)

I'm following a tutorial on hair painting - How To Paint Hair In GIMP 2.6 and 2.8 [PDF ]Post Posted: Wed Jul 01, 2015 at Gimp Chat and Mokonafan's screen shot shows a Use color from gradient as a paintbrush option.
Was this a feature of an older version of Gimp?
Why on earth would they disregard this option? What a handy feature.
Does anyone know which version of Gimp had this feature, please.

RJKD - it is in your current GIMP; you should find this option under brush dynamics; make your required gradient active and set the dynamics as below -

Brilliant - thanks OMG, in the tutorial screen shot it was a fixed option with a check box under Incremental. That's a great help.
