What's overlap in GIMP?

In GIMP, when you go to "Colors" menu, then "Hue-Saturation", there's an "Overlap" setting.
What does that do?

Like it says, very subtle. Have to confess, I never use it, but then I seldom use that tool.

A quick experiment yellow-red-green block with min and max overlap set
