plane 3D script for GIMP

This creates a 3d plane grid similar to effect found here illusion-carpet-573#p4386

Script Menu Location: Python-Fu/Plane 3D...

Script options:

Instructions:
1) Create a layer that has white/black (grayscale values) to use as height indication like similar to sample shown below.
2) Run script on that layer, adjusting Grid X and Grid Y. (version 3 asks for height range, and texture layer).
3) Let the magic happen on a new image using foreground and background color.

Tin, it is a really neat effect and I played with it for awhile. I'm not sure what I can do with it. Can you give any examples where it can be used to make an image? My creative abilities are blanking on me right now.

it's just to reproduce (sort of) the illusion of the carpet mentioned by RJKD.
Then i thought why not let it map an image to the plane that goes up and down or whatever too.... I can't think of any other uses other than what i have in examples.

Tin - I threw a pretty complex 'grayscale' layer at a wooden lotus brush as the texture layer - 2 hours later when the script finished .... wow, result is below with just a little extra colouring -

Thank you for this script T, it has real potential and I will get back to you with some creations. I've just taken on another garden, (so my time is limited) probably the last project i'll undertake, getting to old for this lark now.
