scale bar and automate tasks

Post#1 by Morphéus2 » 01 Nov 2016, 16:36

Hello,

First of all sorry for my poor english

I work for an archeology professor who charged me a job when he learned that I sometime use illustration software.
He provides several thousands (! :hammer_head: ) of pictures of archaeological pieces placed next to a ruler. The photos are in TIF format.

initial photos: Image
My task: to each photos, producing two images:
the first: TIF, crop to contain only the room, or 1cm in real life is the éhelle of TIF
the second: the same as the first but with JPEG and a small scale 1cm graduation. Like that: Image

Here are all the step that I am currently doing most accurately describes:

1. Open the image
2. select the measurement tool
Image
3. measuring 1cm (and retain equivalent px = A)
Image
4. go to Image -> Scale -> resolution Y = A , unit = pixel / cm, click on validate
5. rectangular selection tool -> choose the form
Image
6. crop the image
7. Export the image in TIF format in the specified folder
8. I run the script "Map scale legend"
Image
9. I enter width= A and step =A-> validate
10. I copy the image of the scale bar
11. I paste the image of the scale bar on the original picture
12. I export the image to the specified folder in JPEG format

Here is the scripte "Map scale lagend" I use on step 8:
the script-fu that I use to creat the scale bar:

finded here http://latinsud.blogspot.ch/2009/06/plugin-para-gimp-para-hacer-escalas-de.html

Finaly the only steps that really need human intervetion is to indicate to the programme waht 1cm IRL is and define the area to crop. maybe the placement and colore of the scale bar, it must have a way to automatised everything else(I hope)

Thank in advance for everyone who try to help me! :thumbsup:
