For some reason I suddenly wanted to post some images I've made recently. Curious to me because my default modes are privacy, withdrawal and silence.
All made in GIMP. The river and insect photos are mine; the others are public domain.

Wasn't sure what the thread was going to be from your title - but really enjoyed the varied treatments and thought-provoking concepts.

@neurolurker ,
I really liked these images, mainly the tone used in some images and the technique you used in the 'Skylines'. Reminds me of a tutorial made by Issabella on a technique created by Dinasset.
The Buddha image seems to contain a Fibonacci pattern implicit in the merger of a spiral staircase with the face of Buddha, it looks very good.
I'm glad you allowed yourself to share these images, they will always inspire others.

Krikor, thank you for your kind words. You are right on the money RE Skylines. They are from tweaks and variations [I can't program or script] on Dinasset's Free Painting plugin published recently on GIMP Chat. It is my absolute favorite "photo to painting" plugin effect. I want to try it out on everything. The Churchyard image is also variations on Free Painting using CLUTs as color preparations before running the plugin itself. The Buddha image came from the default settings under Filters: Map: Illusion. The wasp head macro turned Andromeda Strain-like cellular threat is from Filters: Distorts: Kaleidoscope.

I don't know how to make this correction to my original post. Three photos used above should have been credited as being available under Creative Commons License. They are not "public domain."

Buddha original is a pexels photo by Rodolfo Clix.
Churchyard original is a morguefile photo by justben.
