Gimp 2.10

Post#1 by Pat625 » 03 May 2018, 18:23

Tin,
Much is being said about Gimp 2.10. Do you know if yours (or others) scripts will work in 2.10? Have you tested any of yours? I am hoping that they all work!

I won't upgrade to 2.10 for a while. 2.8 is working fine for me right now so i haven't had chance to test any scripts on 2.10.
I would imagine they still work unless 2.10 changed something majorly relating to scripts, since it's 2.10 and not 3.something there's more chance of them working still because from 2.8 to 2.10 is only a minor version change not major like from 2 to 3. But I won't knkow for sure unless i install 2.10

Does anyone know,
if the installation location for Gimp User Resources, i.e. Brushes, Patterns, Scripts, Plugins has changed?

In Samj's portable version it is simple. Go to Preferences. All of those things that you previously placed in a user folder are listed there.

Wallace, you changed your avatar again! I did not recognize you at first. I like it.

My Windows location: C:\Users\MyUserName\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10
I wish they hadn't changed it, every time I want to do anything there I first have to show hidden files in File Explorer. Kind of a pain.

I think,
that if you add another folder location,
from within preferences.
You should,
(in theory) be able to have the Gimp User Resources located wherever one wishes.

Thanks Pat.
It's a variation of the same avatar I'm using at gimptalk.com.
