Yin-Yang Script

Post#1 by gibletsWithShaman » 03 Jul 2019, 19:10

I've finished my first GIMP Pyhon-Fu script. I call it Yin-Yang 1.0. It creates Yin-Yang symbols and animations. I've put help in the script's header. Its pretty simple to use, but very versatile. I welcome feedback. - Charles

This 1.02 updates adds an image crop, which will cause the .gif export to stop complaining.

This 1.03 update adds the 'polar lightness' (corrected) back to the mode menu.

This 1.04 update improves anti-aliasing by scaling the image. Note that during testing, I discovered that the pattern selector is not working in GIMP 2.10.18. I reported the bug at GIMP's GitLab, and they have responded saying that the fix is already in place and will be in the next release, 2.10.20.

This 1.05 update removes the gradients from GIMP after creating them. The gradients were forming clutter in the gradients folder.

I just realized that forgot to tell where the file goes.

Place the script in GIMP's Python-Fu folder. You can discover where this
folder is by opening the Preference dialog (Edit / Preferences). In
this dialog, find Folders / Plug-ins (scroll down). On the right-panel
are two paths. The first path listed is the Python-Fu.

gibletsWithShaman, I like this a lot and I hope to see more! Congratulations on a fine script.

For myself I like the scripting style of having help information in the script itself. If it isn't there, I often add it myself to scripts I know I'll keep. GIMP being as sharing as it is, human memory being as mercurial as it is, lots of scripts have come loose from their instructions. The result can be that requirements about how to use and what to expect, etc., is now lost somewhere in chat exchanges.

Welcome to GL forum.
Script has lots of features even if it's not a first script.
Great start to a fun journey of scripting.

Thanks tim.
I'm a GIMP convert. I've been a programmer for almost 40 years. For the last several years, my hobby has been to make Paintshop Pro scripts. Now, I hope to continue to make GIMP scripts that I can share with others for everyone's benefit. I like programming more than making art, but I enjoy both processes.

Nice!
I changed the gradient segment colouring type and blending function to my likes.
