Thanks very much Pat....as I said, this was my first attempt & it is definitely a work in progress... :) ....

One area that tripped me up was the 2nd & 3rd screen, where Leopardo made a selection & then used the Scale tool to stretch the selection for width & height....the part that gets me is how did he get such straight lines in his example?...I'm obviously missing a step or two....

Try making a selection that isn't very large,
which incorporates a representation of the colors.
You can also,
sample a color from the image and paint it into your selection in the appropriate spot.
Another tool, that you might use on the selection.
Is the smudge tool, to blend some of the colors together within your selection.

I did this one quickly.
As an example.
