Tutorials must be created by you and your own idea.
If you got idea from elsewhere and revised your own version of tutorial, please include reference and credit original authors.
For example if you found a Photoshop tutorial and wanted to write a GIMP version, you must credit the original Photoshop tutorial.
Nice outcomes, Archie. If you want to limit the "dots", you have to "intervene" on the quantized layer with the clone tool before texturizing the areas.
Thanks dinasset. I hadn't considered that but it seems like that would be a bit of work. Here's the quantized layer. You can see how widespread it is in the different color areas. Did I miss something? Did you post the crystal patterns?

For anybody that might not have it, here's Saul Goode's quantize script. You won't have to create a new image in step 5. Just new from visible and run script. You can just put in your number of colors and leave the other options as they are.
Having that image, the cleaning is extremely quick:
1.Use Fuzzy select tool to select contiguous color, but specify: select by HSV Hue: click on one pixel of the left side of the "sky"
2.Apply pixelize increasing the parameter online until the whole area is cleared; done left part
3.Do the same steps 1-2 on the right side; done right side
This is my result; if you do not like the color created by the pixelise, you may increase the saturation
