You are probably right, gnerd. You are overlooking something. I made the tutorial several times.
Some photo's and line art are more suitable than others for the clear glass effect.
This one I posted a few weeks ago in my "gallery."

A hummingbird I saw in OMG's wintergarden :)
That is incredibly beautiful Ella!!

Thank you, gnerd. I'm sure you'll soon find the way to make the clear glass. You're a quick learner.

But attention ... Gimp is very adjective   :)

Is there a download for the 3D green pattern? I don't have this, so I've been choosing other patterns to fill. That maybe my problem...while trying to follow step for step until I understand it but that is a pattern I do not have. Googling it produces overwhelming choices and i'm not sure which is correct.

3D green pattern is a default pattern. It should be in your Gimp.
Look at point 1, you can also click the striped button (point 2), it shows a written list (the names) of the patterns.

BTW. I don't think the pattern is the problem, other patterns will do as well.

You can use any pattern that you want. BRL just needs to have something under it that defines the areas on which to work.

I initially had a problem with one aspect of this...
"Lovely tutorial thanx OMG, in section 3.3, 4-6, I had to manually align my background copy (pasted layer), did I make the copy incorrectly (I clicked directly over the brumbie)?"
See Gimp Chat thread http://gimpchat.com/viewtopic.php?f=23& ... &start=200
It may be, just may be, you think you are loosing your pasted layer or possibly the paste is slightly offset, have a few plays and you'll get there, good luck.

RJKD, I think just about everyone wonders about this. Sometimes when I do that paste for the background for the Brumby or image, it is right on. Other times I must adjust it as it might be just a little off, or way off. It is a mystery to me. If anyone knows why, please enlighten!
