Fancy Stripes, a design that catches your attention (guide in pdf)

Post#1 by Issabella » 17 May 2018, 07:03

I saw a horse in pixabay whose design caught my attention at once and I thought how it could be done in Gimp.
Here the pictures (original) and my result. I did a pdf how I did it for if someone likes to try it. :)

Thanks for the tutorial, Issa :thank_you:
Made my own interpretation of it :)

Also made my own striped background in Gimp. It's not difficult.

Thank you, Issa :)

What I meant by making my own black and transparent striped pattern in Gimp was this.

First open a transparent background (you can choose the size.)
Then go to filters > render > pattern > grid.

First uncheck the horizontal and vertical lines.
Fill in the width of your choice.
If you like to have the stripes the same width, the spacing must be double, for instance 10 = 20, 25 = 50, 40 = 80 and so on.
The offset should be 0.

Now you can make your stripes large, thick or small at your tasting.
The twirl I made in G'mic as you suggested.

Issabella. I love the design that you made. You devised a method just by looking at the picture in Pixabay. I will try it as soon as I can.

Ella, yours is also very nice. You also have the talent to figure out another way to do something and get the same effect. Great job by both of you.

Issabella - thanks, but I'm allowed to have a little play time even on holidays; we even bought a new Surface Pro PC to use on our journey. Back home mid June and will post some pics then.
