The darker pics are the best option. IMO

The original image is displayed on the left side.

Pat and Issa reviewing the histogram gave me the feeling that it might have been less dark, but perhaps I unconsciously wanted to highlight the before and after well. Sometimes subtlety is the best option.

I tried to recreate how the image would have been seen through the photographer's eyes and not how it was captured (subjective question).

I used Ofnuts' custom Luminosity Mask and aimed:
Decrease the matte, fuzzy look of the original.
Enhance the urban area amidst so much vegetation and mountains.
Enhance boats and improve image contrast.

In the end, it always seems that one can do better and in another way, and in fact that is true. But there is no need for perfectionism, the important thing is learning during the process.
