Update gradient-bevel-logo.scm

Post#1 by hori873 » 18 Nov 2019, 23:46

Hello,

I've just upgraded to the latest GIMP version (2.10.14) and an old filter that I relied on (gradient-bevel-logo.scm) broke.
The filter was shipped with GIMP prior to 2.10, and afterwards I had to manually install it.

I have no idea why it broke now.
Downgrading to 2.10.12 seems to be ok and it works fine there, but this is just a short-term solution (or, rather, a workaround)

Could anyone more knowledgeable take a look at it and update it to work with the latest version?

I'd put a link to the script but I can't. Just search "gitlab gradient-bevel-logo.scm" on Google and it should be the first result.

You can adjust the script as that fix ( bumpmap ambient parameter range changed from 0 - 255 to 0 - 1.0 for GEGL)

But it will still not work. It is not the only script that has stopped working.

FWIW I posted a bug report. https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gimp/issues/4267 Usually I get shot down but lets see what happens.

Do not hold you breath for a fix. Even if the devs do something (not guaranteed) it will not come in until the next version is released.

Back to the quick-n-dirty fix. Use the old script / plugin bump map from Gimp 2.8
gradient-bevel-logo.zip
(30.43 KiB) Downloaded 48 times
Script goes in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\scripts
Plugin bump-map64.exe goes in C:\Users\"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\2.10\plug-ins

Image

Works well with the Gimp 2.10 colorize filter.

The gimp 2.8 plug-in does not interfere with the GEGL version, both show in the Filters -> Map menu
