animated snow

I'm not sure what i'm doing to be honest scripts always trip me up. With the animated snow script, do you have one layer, or a specific layer to put the snow on? Do I need to set multiple layers to get it to work? All I get is a slow blinking screen on playback, I tried using just the BG, then trying it on new from visable. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

I used the script Animated Snow.
To make the gif image below, using only a single image and the script's default settings.

The script is located under: Filters > Animation > Animated Snow

This is what the script's dialog looked like.

Hi Wallace, could you tell me if this script runs in version 2.10.x?
Already anticipating, thank you for sharing it!

PS: I decided to test the script, unfortunately it is incompatible with Gimp 2.10.1

That's a CAPITALIZED constant name error.
It should be fixable by running it through my GIMP10 Constantize plug-in.

Hi Tim, I read some time ago something about this constantine plugin, but I did not quite understand what it was all about.
So I did not get involved with this script.
Ok, I'm going to look for it again in the forum and try to understand how to use it and what it is for.
Thank you Tim.

This time, something happens, 2 layers are added, but nothing more, no snow at all. No animation. :fb_sad:

I can't reproduce the error.
The script runs fine for me but it doesn't produce any visible snow.

@Krikor
So I looked into a little further.
Turns out in GIMP 2.8, hurling random pixels on a transparent layer produced some random colors.
However in GIMP 2.10, hurling random pixels on a transparent layer produced nothing all transparent so there's no "snow" to work with.
So what I did was instead of FILL-TRANSPARENT i made it FILL-WHITE.
Then after it did the hurling. I color-to-alpha the result so that it's similar to what it did in GIMP 2.8.
Here's a test result produced in 2.10.6
