Eraser quit working?

Post#1 by enxio27 » 21 Jul 2019, 02:53

What would cause my eraser tool to quit working? Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I can see the outline of the tool, but I click and click and click and nothing happens. It worked just fine last time I used GIMP, so I'm not sure what's going on. I haven't changed any settings anywhere (that I know of). GIMP 2.10.8 on Windows 7.

Several possibilities.

The most common is an active selection somewhere. Can be so small as un-noticable. Try Select -> None

If there is a bar icon on the tool then look for wrong layer, layer visibility off, pixels/alpha locked (icons top of layer dialogue)

Not common but if tool opacity is zero .... nothing happens

Thank you, Rich! It was the layer selection that was the issue. I thought I had the correct layer highlighted, but I didn't. I'll keep your list bookmarked for future reference, because I'm sure I'll need it again before too long.
