Thanks! I guess I'll have to spend some time playing with it. I figured that snap to grid/guide would have something to do with it, but I've been having a difficult time understanding how to make that work.

Hmmmm. . . I wonder whether it could be done with your method using "vertical thread", "horizontal thread", "no thread" "cut out", etc. as the "colors" for each grid square. . .

not grid but guides....create guides and snap to guide (it's default on so you might have turned it off) if it's on...when you use the pencil or brush tool when you hover over it it'll snap to guide if it's close to it...

I've done some searching for information on how to use snap-to-guides, but so far nothing is making sense. Most resources talk about what snap-to-guides is, how to make sure it's enabled, but not about how to use it, nor even the default spacing of the guides. In the mean time, I'm muddling along with drawing my "stitches" pixel by pixel and positioning them by pixel, as well. There has to be a better way. :gaah:

PS: My computer is such a POC, I had to record and let it run for 1 minute until it starts recording properly then start my demo. Then at the end I cut the beginning 1 minute clip out (because it's glitchy). But made it work.
